Tennis :The Fight against doping
The term "doping" has been mentioned pretty often in the sporting news lately. Most of the times it refers to athletes from cycling or athletics .Now in tennis also there will be new regulation changes being made in the near future in order to fight against the possible pollution of this great sport.
The plan is to introduce the biological passport. This is the result of a recent agreement that has been made with the tennis ani-doping-program (TADP). The group consists of representatives from the ITF, the players organisations WTA and ATP and agents from all four grand slam tournaments.
With the introduction of the biological passport players data will be collected and the TADP will run more unannounced bloodtest not only at tournaments but also during practise periods.
Record holder Roger Federer and olympic champion Andy Murray have announced that they support the introduction of the biological passports and of more transparency in the running of blood tests.
Lets all hope that the constantly increasing athleticism of tennis players remains the results of hard work and discipline and not the intake of forbidden substances.
