Why Tyger does not sponsor any famous tennis players

Recently Forbes Magazine published their annual list of the ‘Worlds most powerful celebrities.’ Lady Gaga was number 1, but they also listed 5 famous tennis players.

He might not be world’s best tennis player anymore, but Roger Federer is still the most influential tennis player in the world. He is number 25 on the list, and earned 47 million dollars in the last 12 months. Not bad I suppose!

Federers statistics between may 2010 and may 2011

Revenue: 47 million dollars
Social media: 6.914.000 facebook friends
Google news: 514.000 hits

Rafael Nadal is listed number 46, and thus the second most powerful tennis player. Number 47 is Brad Pitt, so that’s some result!

Nadal’s statistics :

Revenue: 31 million dollars
Social media: 6.223.000 facebook friends
Google news: 1.130.000 hits

Maria Sharapova’s year has not been one of her best , but she’s still earning a lot of money. She earned around 24 million dollars and Forbes listed her as the most powerful female tennis player (place 80).

Sharapova’s numbers:

Revenu: 24 million dollars
Social media: 4.158.000 facebook friends
Google News: 467.000 hits

It has been centuries since we’ve heard from the Williams sisters but they are still listed as number 84 (Serena) and number 86 (Venus).

Their results:

Revenue: 12 and 13 million dollars respectively
Socia media: 456.000 and 759.000 facebook friends
Google News: 513.000 and 307.000 hits

You are probably wondering what this has to do with our home brand TYGER. Well, Roger, Rafa, Maria, Serena and Venus do not make their money by just winning Grand Slams. They have rackets, apparel, shoes and stringing sponsors who pay a lot of money to get them to play with their products.

The only question for you, our consumer, is whether those brands are better than TYGER. I can asure you they are not.
Today all tennis products are made in the Far East, including for example Wilson rackets, or Dunlop balls.

TYGER tennis products are made in the most modern factories . We deliberately choose not to sponsor famous tennis players, so we can offer our customers a quality product at a fair price.

Hence our motto “Same quality, better price’

And remember: TYGER is celebrating its 25th birthday. Let’s all celebrate that fact!
